This is the official site for Cleveland’s chapter of Dr. Sketchy’s Anti Art School. Where drinking and drawing is the norm. We will host monthly life drawing classes with a twist. We'll get the best local entertainers to pose for us and we take up residence in a bar for an afternoon of getting our sketch on.
Dr. Sketchy’s was started by Molly Crabapple in New York City. Check out the originals at the
Dr. Sketchy’s website.
Normally a session consists of one or two models, a DJ, your host and three rounds of poses. A warm up round of 1 and two minute poses, a break, some drinks, some 5 and 10 minute poses, a break, some more drinks, and then as many long poses (15-20 minute) as we can fit in. There are often acts and always prizes and contests.
We try to keep things fast and loose, but we do have a few rules.
- Dry mediums only, as in ink, markers, crayons, pencils, graphite, pastels, etc. If we can clean up with a broom it is good. If you make arrangements with us ahead of time, me may be able to accommodate a very limited number/types of other mediums.
- Be respectful. That means no pawing at the models and no asking them out. Hooting and hollering, however, is encouraged.
- No photography at the events. Our models are posing for life drawing. If you want to arrange for a photography session you should talk to them directly.
- 21 and up. This is a drinking event and held in a bar.
- Most of all, have fun.
